Is Your Best Salesperson Even a Person?

Salesperson at cash registerHave you ever heard the expression “your website is your best salesperson”? Well, it’s true! When someone types your company’s name into a search engine, the first thing that should pop up is your website. It needs to make a good impression and represent everything your brand stands for and should have all the relevant information needed for current, and returning, customers to make a purchase or become a lead. More importantly, your website should convert potential customers into sales, the same way a salesman would.

Similar to investing in, training, and hiring new salespeople, you should also be investing in, updating, and perfecting your website. That way, you can convert leads into sales.

Redesigning your website is no easy feat which is why Web by Craig is here to help you. A redesign could also mean very different things for different people as every website needs specific changes and updates. For example, one site may simply need to be changed to more mobile friendly. In contrast, another may need to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Although this project may be costly, it is 100% worth it. In today’s society, where everything is online, a good website has significant benefits. Just to name a few, a good website can reach new customers, contribute to public trust, boost revenue, and even help build brand identity. Now, you may be asking yourself, how do I know if I need to update my website?

70% of the searches made on mobile phones lead to online action.

5 signs that your site needs a redesign

1. Your website does not currently sell a product or service

Today, everything is online, and people would rather stay at home and shop online than go to a physical store or speak to someone on the phone. It’s simply easier, especially with the recent pandemic. Being in confinement for many weeks meant the only way people were going to buy products or services was online. If your website does not currently have the option to buy directly from your site, then it is time for a change. What’s your website’s call to action (CTA)?

2. Your website is not mobile accessible

“In the first quarter of 2021, mobile devices generated 54.8 percent of global website traffic constantly hovering around 50 percent mark since the beginning of 2017”[1]. That being said, if your website is not currently mobile compatible, then you are alienating over half your potential customers. 61 percent of consumers say they are more likely to purchase from mobile-friendly sites. 70% of the searches made on mobile phones lead to online action.[2] Google predominantly uses the mobile version of the content for indexing and ranking.[3] If you want to come up in search results your site needs to be mobile friendly. Having a website that is not mobile accessible is no longer an option.

3. Your website is outdated

When was the last time you updated your website? If your answer is more than 1 year ago, then it is 100% time for an update. Style changes, trends change, and information needs to be updated to successfully reach new customers and satisfy returning ones. Google also prioritizes sites that are constantly updated and penalizes ones that lay stagnant. You want your site to be as user-friendly and as functional as possible which can only occur if it is up to date. If it’s not, you risk losing traffic, leads and sales.

4. Your website is difficult to navigate and boring

If you haven’t generated interest in 15 seconds, then you probably aren’t going to. If it takes more than one or two clicks for a user of your site to find what they are looking for they will be gone faster than you can say “click”. In today’s fast paced world people want the information they are looking for at their fingertips, literally. If they can’t find it quickly on your site, they will look for it on another website.

5. Loading… Your site is sloooow.

Around 70% of people say that the speed of a page affects their willingness to buy from an online retailer.[4] Just a 0.1s change in page load time can impact every step of the user journey. Latency is the number one reason in the U.S. why consumers decide to leave mobile pages.[5] However, there is hope. Thanks to speed optimization your website can be tweaked to achieve faster load times and better performance. 77% of mobile consumers say they are more likely to purchase from mobile sites that offer them the ability to make purchases quickly. And every tenth of a second counts. Retail sites saw a 9.2% increase in average order value when load time was decreased by one-tenth of a second.[6] Web by Craig uses a variety of tools and techniques to measure your site’s performance and then tweaks and retests it until we achieve a speed that is satisfactory, or ideally, optimal.
